A flashback

I wanted to flashback to Christmas 2011 today. I was just starting out my blog, so I didn't post many recaps and photos, but thought I'd share them with you all now ;) You don't mind, right!?

It was our first Christmas married, which of course made everything a little extra special! Our first tree, our first Christmas card photo fiasco and our first time getting to wake up together Christmas Day and exchange gifts!
We went to the Zoo Lights for the first time together, and plan to make it a yearly tradition now. We're hoping to go tonight- if the rain holds off!

(Yes, I rocked that crochet top multiple times within a week. So what?!)
Last year there were 5 total Christmas celebrations for us, spread out over MANY days. A couple weeks before Christmas was the $5 gift exchange with Jared's family -aunts, uncles, cousins. Christmas Eve with my dad's side of the family, Christmas Day with mom's family; Christmas Day also, time with Jared's parents and siblings, and then on New Year's Day time with my parents and sister/brother-in-law.

Whew! That's a lot of Christmas! But it honestly has worked out perfectly for us so far… we get to spend time with everyone and eat celebrate a lot! I honestly thought it would be much more difficult to coordinate holidays once we were married.
How have your holiday plans changed over the years?

  1. Cute pics, Erin! We don't have too hard of a time now either. We have Christmas with my family sometime before Christmas (this year on the 23rd), Christmas with Brad's immediately family (not sure what day - i keep telling him to find out & he keeps forgetting!! LOL.), & then Christmas Eve/Day we usually spend with Brad's mom or dad's side of the family. TONS of fun people. My extended family is all over the place so we usually only go to my grandparents or something once a year. We went for Thanksgiving this year.

    I LOVE CHRISTMAS! :)

  4. I don't think I have ever seen a man look sexy in a Christmas sweater. Until now! Damn girl, you got lucky ;) hehe! No judgement on the outfit, I tend to find one great holiday outfit and wear it to every single holiday event hahaha. I always said the only thing worse than an outfit repeater is an outfit rememberer! So it's okay :)

Dom and I do a lot of traveling for Christmas! This will be our second together and obviously a little more complicated since we have to fly to NY! We're both flying up Friday morning to our respective cities, then on the 23rd I'm taking a bus to saratoga to spend Christmas eve with his family (they do a crazy huge party), and then we wake up reallllyyyy early Christmas morning to drive the 3 hours to my house for Christmas day! Then he stays over for our Christmas party the next day, and then heads home before flying back down here! Whew. I just got tired. It is kind of exhausting, but seeing so many people we love outs me in the best Christmas spirit and I wouldn't change it for the world!!

  5. We're having a total of 6 gift-openings this year-- crazy! But that just means it gets to be Christmas for almost 2 weeks :)
