When I was 17....

1. When you were 17, tell us what kind of car you drove, where you worked and what you were up to on the weekends.

I was driving this bad boy, riiiiight here. A '93 Mercury Topaz. Two-toned on the outside, fuzzy pink seat covers on the inside. Saweeet, I know ;)

I worked two jobs at the time. One was as an administrative assistant for a Waste Management company. Sounds boring, but I actually loved it-- and the pay was great for a high school kid! I also worked at American Eagle.... you know I HAD to have that discount & stock my wardrobe.

On the weekends, I feel like my life was either cheerleading, homework or church youth group.
Here's me with my parents on Senior night :)

2. Show us a picture of you when you were 17 {roughly}.

I think I was still 16 here; but this is at my junior year high school homecoming. My BFF at the time Kristy and I. (I'm on the right! Sorry for the picture of a picture!)

3. When you were 17, tell us what you wanted to be when you "grew up."

I had started applying to colleges around this age, but at the time, I still wasn't sure what I wanted to study, or become. My parents and a couple teachers encouraged me to go into the Communications field as they said it would be something I'd do well at, but I really didn't know what I saw myself doing. I knew I wanted to carry a briefcase into the office every day... does that count for something?! ;)

4. When you were 17, tell us the kind of boys that you dated. Did you have a type? Do you have a relationship you remember well? Tell us about it.

I really only dated 2 guys in high school, and looking back now it's actually weird how alike they were. Both SUPER smart guys... one was actually the Valedictorian of his class. Tall, lanky- but athletic. Involved in their church, close with their family. My parents liked them both- so that was a plus!

5. When you were 17, tell us where you pictured your life 10 years from then. Did it turn out the way you expected it to?

It's funny how at 17 you can be SO FAR OFF on what you think you'll have accomplished by a certain age in the future. I used to think I'll graduate college at age 22, get married right after college, have my dream job immediately, have a child by 24, another one by 26 and live happily ever after..... HA! I'm definitely married to my best friend and have a great job, but I'm perfectly content just being a "newlywed" for awhile longer--- definitely no kids yet. At 17, I would have thought not having kids by the time you're 25 was CRAZY! And landing a dream job was definitely NOT easy and took a lot of work and crappy pay to get where I am.

Thanks, Becky for hosting this link up! :)
