Meals on Monday

Hey all :) Life is getting more hectic by the minute for me, so meal-planning has become much more important lately than it has been all summer. I love stocking up at the grocery store over the weekend and having at LEAST a week's worth of lunches and dinners all planned out. Especially with my schedule! Having everything planned out makes it easier for me or J to get dinner started; whoever gets home first!

Here are just a few yummy things I wanted to share today :)

Monday --- Sesame Encrusted Baked Chicken Tenders
via Skinny Taste
I may have shared this one before, but it's SO delicious, SO easy and quickly becoming one of our favorite weeknight meals. Just 5 minutes into baking, the oven and my house was already smelling like a Hibachi grill restaurant. Yummm!

Tuesday--- Evening Plans!
I have plans after work with my KBug, so J will be on his own.
He will likely eat something manly, like burgers ;)

Wednesday--- Taco Soup
1 pound lean ground beef
1 small yellow onion
1 package taco seasoning mix
1 can (15 ounces) whole kernel corn, undrained
1 can (15 ounces) beans in chili sauce, undrained
1 can Rotel chilis and diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can tomato soup
1 soup can of water

Place burger and chopped onion to Deep Covered Baker. Cover and microwave on high for 4 minutes. Remove and crumble. Cover and return to microwave for 2 minutes. Remove and drain. Add remaining ingredients, stir thoroughly and heat 10 minutes until hot. Serve with tortilla chips, salsa, sour cream, and grated cheddar cheese

Recipe came from my Pampered Chef lady's cookbook.
I purchased this
and it came with over 100 recipes to make in JUST this dish. You should probably get one too.

 Thursday--- Easy Garlic Chicken
I'll be working late this night, but J plans on making a simple chicken recipe + veggies that he can eat and I can reheat when I (finally) get home. Here is a similar recipe to what we follow

Friday --- Dinner at the in-laws to celebrate an early Kbug's birthday

Saturday --- Hopefully a date night out ;)

Sunday --- Some version of chicken in a crockpot
J is always good at winging it. It's awesome to throw it all in, leave for church and come
home to a yummy lunch!

Sooo... an easy meal week, in that we have evening plans a few nights, but it works for us. A couple of these meals will DEFINITELY give us leftovers too which of course, make lunch more exciting.

What yummy things are you making this week?
What's your favorite site to find recipes?

Friday's Letters!

As sweet Ashley is traveling cross-country, I thought I'd add my Friday Letters to her link up for her to read when she arrives and recovers ;)

Dear Friday: Everyone acts like you kick off a "weekend" or something... please remind me of what that is, since I work all of these said days.

Dear Work: You are crazy, but going well. Thanks for keeping me on my toes.
1. My desk looks like this on a regular basis now; 2. Players ticket sorting; 3. Kick-off Pep Rally!
Dear Hair: One day I will fix you and stop showing up to work with it soaking wet still =\
Dear Football Season: You are so close I can taste you. I cannot wait to start burning this candle for the first game in TWO WEEKS!

Dear Sunsets: You make leaving the office at 9pm not as bad ;)

Are you linking up today?!
I work tonight, but I was SO EXCITED to find out I'm off Saturday now, when I'd been scheduled to work previously. I swear, I might not leave the house, lol! I'm looking forward to getting some cleaning and projects done, and then a fun evening with J.

Oh, and hopefully getting a new phone-- as the screen of mine is BUSTED and now randomly turns off/on about a gazillion times a day. Whoops! ;)

TGIF, Friends!!

My heart is happy ♥

I have no earth-shattering post today, and nothing really to even blog about.

Other than the fact that I. AM. HAPPY.

Just having one of those moments in life where you think about all the GOODNESS in your life, and the many, many, many, countless blessings.

Even though it's easy to let small things seem like big things, and let stress eat away at us- I TRY my best to remember the good in life. Because darnit, there's a WHOLE lot of it :)

My heart is happy today, and I hope yours is too!

What are you feeling happy or thankful for today?

Sorry for the Tuesday evening recap this week, friends! I had a jam-packed FUN weekend that wore me out. I'm getting too old for all this excitement ;) Work is also jam-packed this week- causing me to be in overdrive it seems. We have after-hours events Thursday through Sunday this week so I'm trying to gear up for that. Hoping I can get out of Sunday's event and make it to another (yes!) baby shower, lol!

Speaking of baby shower's my cousin Lindsey's was so fun. She looks so good and I seriously can't wait to meet her boy!

My aunt made this-- soo cute :)

My bag-- thought it was cute :)

Yummy cupcakes & my precious Mamaw :)

Aunt, Cousin, Mamaw
Helping with games
Some cute UK stuff :)

Trying to feel the little guy kick. Not gonna lie- first time I've ever felt that-- freaked me out just a little bit ;) But still SO awesome!
After cleaning up at the shower, I got to visit with my friend Lacey. I had a birthday gift for her, but my Aunt kindly donated the shower balloons so I could have a little fun when I got to her house ;)

She is too cute and we had the best time together. Food, talking for hours, and laying out her in pool. Nothing fancy, no plans necessary; just good quality, friend time.

Hope you all are having a great week so far! Hang in here with me as I navigate a crazy life schedule for the next few days!

Friday, you bring me joy

This weekend is going to be a GOOD ONE :)

At work we're celebrating an employee's retirement which means pizza, cake and my manager's adorable 18 month old, Gus, will be stopping in this afternoon at work. Definitely makes for a faster day at the office!

After this day FLIES BY (fingers crossed) J and I just plan to make dinner at home, maybe grab a Redbox and just relax. We are such old folks!
Saturday is my sweet cousin Lindsey's baby shower and I couldn't be more excited for her! I only have 5 cousins and her little man will be the first great-grandkid of the family. Only about 6 more weeks 'til we get to meet him. I can't wait to see him AND learn his name-- they're keeping it a secret until his debut!

I got him some SUPER cute stuff, but I can't share that just yet; Lindsey has been known to stop in my blog from time to time! ;)

After the shower I'm going to see my long-lost bestie and bridesmaid, Lacey! Our schedules don't allow us to see each other nearly enough, but we're finally meeting up for a girls night of cooking and crafting, and then I'm staying overnight with her to lounge in the pool Sunday!

I am getting WAY too excited for fall. Three weeks from today the Cincinnati Bengals kick off their first preseason game and you BET I am excited!!!!! What are your plans?! Fitting in all the things you can into the last month(ish) of summer??

One perfect weekend coming right up!!!

Some baseball fun

Monday we got to go to a Reds game with free tickets (thank you, work!)

Yes, I have SOME hair; it's a sweaty mess already!

It was fun.... but it was SO HUMID out. We honestly were having trouble breathing it was
sooo nasty out. We still made it fun, but headed out a little early before we inhaled anyone else's
armpit, beer breath or hair grease.

We decided to stop in and try Orange Leaf for the first time. I'd NEVER had the self-serve
type of frozen yogurt before so I was pumped!

The verdict? Definitely DELICIOUS, I had birthday cake flavor and about a billion toppings. J had birthday cake & red velvet combo and loved his too.

BUT--- Goooooodness gracious that crap is expensive! How do people have this multiple times a week?!
I'd go broke!!!! Seriously- it was yummy, but not worth that cost. It will definitely be a special treat
every once in awhile for me, not a habit!

We caught a pretty sunset wheezing, puffing, panting walking back to our car and grabbed a couple more sweaty pictures together. You can't ever have too many of those, right?! ;)

We're headed to the ballpark again tonight; this time with our company's suite tickets. Praise the Lord for catered food and air conditioning!!!!

Bloggers 4-1-1!

Super excited that Becky is hosting this link-up! I still feel like I'm fairly new to the blogging world so this is a GREAT opportunity to share more about myself, and learn more about all the fabulous blogs I already read ;)

PLUS, this is officially my 100th post-- Happy Day!!

1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging?
My first blog post was September 19, 2011 and it's pathetic. So don't go read it, no seriously, don't. I had a few gals from college that started blogging about their newlywed lives, and I thought it would be a fun way to stay in touch, I never thought I'd be making friends with people all over the country! A few family members read it, and a handful of friends, but it's developed into much more than "life updates" to share with relatives.

2. Did you go to college? If so what did you study?
I have a B.A. in Print Communication, with minors in Graphic Design & Marketing
I also completed my M.Ed. in Sports Administration in December of 2010
....So I have a lot of interests, big deal?!

3. Where have you traveled?
Not a TON, I've visited 23 states + honeymooned in Mexico.
I want to see the WORLD though, so if you'd like to pay for me to travel, let me know ;)

4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
Honestly, I would pay off our student loans first.
Second would be a new car for J-- his is falling apart.
Third- New appliances for me ;)
Fourth- Go SHOPPING for an upcoming VACATION!

5. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?
I love to take a long bath with a good book....
Organize something, anything!
Work on my own book!

6. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?
Only 1?!?
Hmmm... Probably LOFT orrrrrr Express. I'll decide when I get that $10k.
Or maybe just Target now that I think about it... I mean, they have everything!
Yes, Target. Final answer.

7. What day would you love to relive again?
It's probably cliche but I'd love to relive our wedding day again, from start to finish. Or even the day we got engaged. Both were so perfect and fun, and such an exciting time!

8. If your life was turned into a movie... what actor would play you?
I've been told I look like Mena Suvari (when she has brown hair)
but I think I'd prefer Zooey Deschanel because I just love her ;)

9. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?
Funny you should ask. That book I'm writing? It's about this!

I've worked:
Concession Stand Worker at a local amusement park
Administrative Assistant for a trash company
Retail, again!
Call Center Rep at a larger amusement park
Staff sports writer for college newspaper
Standardized Test Grader
.....AND my current job :)

10. Show us a picture from high school or college.
A few pictures for your viewing pleasure, yes I had blonde in my hair at one point.
Never again.

Me and my roomy; freshman year at college
Some of my good friends/roomates; freshman year of college
Obviously- June 2006; home after first year of college with high school BFF.
11. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go?
I blogged about this just last week. Check it out here!

12. Show us the most current picture of you or you and your family.
This is the most recent picture of J and I, taken at my great-aunt's
90ths bday party just a couple weekends ago!

13. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?
5 years from now I'll be 30 years old (crazy!)
I'd like to be a published author.
Student-loans paid off.
A mom.
Looking for our next house.
Still crazy in love with my husband and loving our life together :)

Make sure you check out Becky's blog and see who else linked up!

Weekend Recap

We kicked off Friday evening with a fun game night with friends.

Btw- I've never watched the office.
World's cutest dog-- Maggie :)

We played Taboo too, but things were getting competitive around here so I forgot to
 take any more pictures ;)

Saturday I worked most of the day, giving tours of the stadium.
Wow, was it HOT and HUMID that day. I had to go immediately home and take another shower before heading back out for date night with J.

We went to a restaurant we don't normally eat at, and let me just say-- These pretzel bites were DIVINE. I could have eaten 2 baskets of them... yummmmy!

And the mister agrees...

Sunday we went to church, and stayed afterwards to a "new attendee" luncheon. It was pretty fun and we got to meet the pastor and other new families attending the church. It was nice to finally meet a couple of people and we're excited about hopefully getting involved there soon. I've helped with the little kiddos at my past churches and I miss that!!

I also got to enjoy an AMAZING Sunday matinee with Miss Kayla!
It was SO GOOD. Even if you're not a big Katy Perry fan (unacceptable!) the movie was awesome. We laughed, we cried, we rocked out-- I'm telling you, go see it. You will crack up over how funny she is behind the scenes, it will break your heart to see her marriage fall apart while she's on tour, but I think you'll also gain a lot of respect for her AND her family.

An overall good weekend- and I'm looking forward to a lot this week!
Tonight J and I have free tickets to see the Reds take on the Diamondbacks, and Wednesday we're going to another Reds game with my company in their suite-- always fun ;)

Not to mention a cousin's baby shower & some seriously fun girl-time coming up this weekend!
Happy Monday!
