Wedding Wednesday {Rehearsal!}

Our rehearsal was quick and simple and a little bit hilarious. Jared & I had the ceremony planned out very carefully, so we knew things should run smoothly. Something I haven't mentioned yet in my wedding posts, is about the assigned "wedding coordinator" we were given via the church. We didn't attend this church, and anytime someone gets married they set you up with a coordinator. Let's just say, she was pushing 70 and most of her ideas and 'advice' came from her wedding, which was 45 years ago.

We were as courteous as possible, letting her speak her mind and feel like she was really helping us out with creative options and ideas, but for the most part, we nixed anything she said. We knew how we wanted things to run and didn't really need an outsider (not to mention outdated) coordinator.

Like I said- the church lady was a little crazy. Oh, I didn't say that yet?! Ok- she was crazy. We started the rehearsal right on time, but not after she embarrassed herself by YELLING my dad's name in Jared's direction and getting flustered when he wouldn't answer her. She even went so far to wave her hand in the air, and shout "YOOO HOOOO- KEVIN!" (my dad's name). Jared, being the good-natured guy he is, laughed it off and said, "If you're wanting me that's not my name, but I'm ready!" Everyone cracked up, at crazylady's expense. Oops ;)
There she is! In all her glory!!

Now, please take notice of what is TIED AROUND ME in this next picture.
Crazy lady walked up behind me once we got up to that alter and asked me what my dress looked like and if I had a long train. I looked at her like she was crazy (since she was!) and tried to quietly tell her it wasn't much of a train and obviously Jared didn't know what my dress looks like so SHUT UP. I didn't really tell her to shut up, but you catch my drift!

Regardless of my answer, crazylady produces this nasty, faded "fake train" she says they always use to make sure the bride can practice moving in a long dress. Not that it's the worst idea I've ever heard of, but she totally came up behind me and just started tying me in. I really wish we had a picture to capture my face in that moment. I was trying SO SO hard not to burst out laughing.

Thank goodness all went well and we were done and outta' there in an hour flat. Time to EAT!
The faces we prefer to make....

Cutting our YUMMY cookie cake-- my absolute favorite!
Both sets of my sweet grandparents and my parents.
My brother-in-law and sister
My brother-in-law and his girlfriend :)

My sweet flower girl and ringbearer!
The ringbearer & flower girl's parents; the absolute BEST family friends anyone could ask for.
I've known them my entire life!
Two wonderful bridesmaids :)

I've seen many extravagant, formal rehearsal dinners and while those are great, I'm sure--- this really was more our style. It was a casual affair with delicious food and good people- what more could you need? Our entire wedding and wedding party was laid-back and fun! We just enjoyed each other's company and it was an honor to have all these people there to celebrate with us.

  5. Oh my goodness...that lady sounds crazy. I'm glad you laughed it all off instead of getting mad and now you have funny stories to tell. Hopefully that old lady retired for other bride's sake. Haha. Looks like a lovely dinner!

  8. So funny about the church lady! The first time my family met J, my Grandpa kept saying, "Steve how do you like living in Columbus?" or "Steve, how's the house coming?" And when he was met with silence it took us all a minute to realize who he was talking to! And I love your rehearsal dress (without train) and necklace, super cute!!
